Esketamine / Spravato
SPRAVATOâ„¢, or Esketamine, is an innovative FDA-approved treatment that has relieved thousands of individuals suffering from treatment-resistant depression. Administered as a nasal spray under the supervision of a certified healthcare provider, SPRAVATOâ„¢ is unique in that it may be able to alleviate symptoms of depression within hours rather than the weeks or months a typical antidepressant may take.
What is SPRAVATOâ„¢?
SPRAVATO™ is an esketamine nasal spray that is used in combination with an oral antidepressant. SPRAVATO™ can alleviate the symptoms of treatment-resistant depression and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Spravato isn’t like other antidepressant treatments. Standard antidepressant medications boost levels of naturally formed chemicals in the brain like dopamine, norepinephrine, glutamate, and serotonin. These neurotransmitters are the chemical messengers of the brain, key to initiating and regulating how cells communicate. When these chemical messengers are weakened or damaged, it’s difficult to control moods, which is a symptom of many kinds of mental illness.
